PBCore Training Materials
The PBCore website is designed to provide plentiful background and contextual information in order to make sense of metadata, the PBCore elements, and the sharing and implementation of metadata in our working worlds.
- USER GUIDE...
The online PBCore User Guide is the place to consult.
- ELEMENT BY ELEMENT DOCUMENTATION...
Both the Full Documentation and the Cheat Sheet definitions of the PBCore elements supply definitions, examples and samples of metadata, as well as guidelines for cataloging data descriptions.
- SAMPLES OF METADATA RECORDS ...
Organized by different media types, Sample Metadata Records are provided, using complete PBCore's descriptions and elements.
- VIEWS OF THE ELEMENTS...
The PBCore Elements are displayed in an at-a-glance fashion in the following manner:
- ELEMENTS IN USE...
Our Case Examples provide accounts of television and radio stations, content providers, archiving and educational institutions, national and network organizations, and industry players as they have folded PBCore into their information and content delivery systems or have mapped existing metadata schemas to that of PBCore.
TRAINING SESSIONS... Outside of these orientation and documentation materials on our website, PBCore has created four training sessions that introduce metadata and PBCore, review the individual elements, examine the importance of the XML Schema for the sharing of PBCore compliant media descriptions, and the use of cataloging tools. Each session is scheduled as a live online WebEx webinar (60 minutes each)(no fees). As well, these webinars are recorded and can be reviewed On-Demand at any time by interested parties (no fees). All live training sessions are conducted through the WebEx conferencing service for PBCore (http://pbcore.webex.com). For registration information, see the schedule of sessions below.
